PTA Meeting Recap
Thank you to everyone who came to our PTA meeting last Thursday, it was so nice to see some familiar faces (and new ones, too!) We had a lively discussion about the purpose of the PTA and what we have planned this year. Highlights of the meeting include…
PTA President Kate gave an overview of the PTA’s purpose—to create the best possible experience for the entire Skillin community—and introduced the 2025-26 Board: Molly Nelson (Vice President), Eliza Kehew (Secretary), Tasha Dalessandro (Co-Treasurer), Ann-Marie Netto (Co-Treasurer)
Principal Connolly gave an update about the start of school: all students have settled in and the year is off to an amazing start!
PTA Treasurer Tasha gave an update of our beginning of the year balances: $12,000 carryover from last year with $5,00 earmarked for the Playground
The annual budget was voted upon and approved
Overall:
Fundraising goal: $14,875

Updates of our Programs and Projects
Fundraisers
We rely on 3 big fundraisers that account for 66% of funds raised
First fundraiser: The Big Give! Starting in October, our direction donation fundraiser is our biggest fundraiser and sets us up for success for the year
The Spirit Shop will be coming back this fall! The shop be open for a limited time taking pre-orders on a revamped set of Skillin spirit styles
Community Building Events
Our fist event of the year is Ice Cream Social this Thursday, we brainstormed ideas for how to make the event fun, we will need volunteers at this event
We will need help planning our Family Fun Night in November, reach out to SkillinSchoolPTA@gmail.com if you’re interested
In-School Support
Popcorn Fridays are the first Friday of each month, our first is next month on October 6th!
Volunteers to help with the line for Picture Day are also needed
Outdoor Spaces
We are prioritizing investing in the playground again
Swing mats for under the swings are on their way
A new basketball hoop is needed
A builder has volunteered to design and build an outdoor mud kitchen!

Our meetings are a great way to stay informed about what’s happening at Skillin, meet awesome parents, swap ideas, and plan exciting events that make the school a fantastic place for our kids. All parents, caregivers, teachers, and community members are welcome to join!
