The PTA Board

The PTA board is a team of Skillin parent and caregiver volunteers who work with the principal, teachers, and families to bring the PTA’s mission to life. They guide the PTA, making sure our efforts stay organized, transparent, and focused on supporting every child.

The board:

  • Leads and organizes – Plans meetings, sets goals, and oversees PTA programs and events.

  • Manages funds – Handles the PTA budget, fundraising, and spending to support students and staff.

  • Connects families and school – Serves as a link between parents, teachers, administrators, and the community.

  • Encourages involvement – Welcomes volunteers and creates opportunities for families to participate.

  • Supports staff and students – Provides resources, recognition, and enrichment that enhance the school experience.

Some of our most frequently asked questions

Always feel free to reach out to a Board Member directly or email skillinschoolpta@gmail.com for more details!

  • Each spring a list of open Board positions is announced at the monthly meetings and in school communications. If interested in joining, complete the PTA Board Member Application and a board member will reach out to you

  • Board Members must commit to monthly Board meetings along with being present at the monthly PTA meetings. Based on each role, the responsibilities vary but are always geared towards your strengths. We understand life is busy and we strive to find the right fit for you.

  • Yes absolutely! Most of our Board Members do work full time, have children, and houses to run. We are all MOMS and fully get it! We believe lots of hands make for light work and that's why we work hard to grow our PTA to lessen the burden on the PTA Board.

  • We are open to having a Co-President and Co-Vice President join our Board for the fall. Those positions will begin accepting applications this Spring.

  • Most terms are held for two years, however a Board member may serve one term and choose to open their spot for others to apply, this is typically done in March.

  • Once all applications are received and reviewed, the candidates will be announced at the April PTA monthly meeting. Then the PTA will hold their election at the May meeting and new Board members will be voted in. This allows new Board members time to get acclimated to their role before the end of the school year.

  • We recommend joining a committee to start, if you feel that you can handle taking on more responsibilities then you are ready to join the Board! It's that simple, our philosophy is more the merrier!
